as Joelle and I were discussing various doctrines that were dogmatic in churches we’ve attended, I realized I finally (only by the grace of God) have come to a place of understanding that nothing matters as much/except the Gospel. When we go out preaching Christ crucified, it should be just that- Christ crucified. We, as Christians, should not have any other agenda.
Honestly, I no longer care to argue about evolution vs. intelligent design. I no longer care to argue about whether the creation story was unique to the Hebrews or whether other neighboring cultures (such as the Chaldeans) had their creation story copied by that of the Hebrews. I don’t care if you believe that Jonah was a metaphorical tale used merely as a teaching tool. And, HONESTLY, I don’t care whether or not you are going to vote for Barrack Obama or John McCain this November (I do care if you do not vote at all and waste away a right that was fought for and took the lives of thousands). None of these things matter- they have no bearing on whether or not you are a “good” Christian, let alone a “moral” person. I am tired of the Church making these things the primary (or sole) focus on the pulpit. We should not push a political agenda. We should be sharing the Gospel- Jesus who came to die for those who would believe. I care about the implications of the reality that Christ came on your behalf and that from your conception He had a will for your life. He requires much. I care about what you think about Him. Lets talk about Him.
