I’ve gone from growing up Roman Catholic, getting “saved” Pentecostal, to growing and cherishing (what I believe) is right doctrine found in Reformed theology. VCU grad, major in Religious Studies; minor in Judaic Studies. Entering into my first semester of grad school Fall 09 at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary to pursue a Masters of Old Testament. Ultimately, I want to teach biblical studies at a secular university as a Christian. Worldview (presuppositions) play into the way in which everyone teaches. With the onset of a culture that is moving more toward extremes (both liberal and conservative)- it is my heart as a teacher to embrace the Augustinian perspective of “Jerusalem and Athens.”
Personally, I owe my life to Christ for so much more than just salvation on the cross (and even this is more than sufficient, should I have died immediately upon my conversion)- but in His kindness He has chosen to give me abundance in this life- and though most people tend to think of ‘abundance’ in terms of material things- I count His kindness in things as little (but really as great) as having the kind of patience to deal with my sin on a daily basis- with choosing to redeem every aspect of who I am. When Christ gave the promise of salvation he meant it for today- how undeserving we are of His grace.
